Journal Entry:
What are the two parts of photosynthesis? Where do they take place? What are the reactants (inputs) and products (outputs) for each part?
Learning Intentions
We will learn the structure of the chloroplast.
We will learn how to explain the process that chloroplasts complete for the light reactions in the thylakoid to turn light energy and water into oxygen, ATP and NADPH.
We will learn how the light reactions are modified for some types of plants.
We will learn how to explain the process that chloroplasts use to turn carbon dioxide, ATP and NADPH into sugar molecules and how various plants modify this process.
We will learn how the Carbon fixation process can be modified for some types of plants.
Closing Task:
You can create a five part foldable, diagramming and explaining aspects of photosynthesis.
Content Standards being covered:
Topics
ENE-1.H Describe the role of energy in living organisms
ENE-1.I
Describe the photosynthetic processes that allow organism to capture and store
energy.
ENE-1.J Explain how cells capture energy from light and transfer it to
biological molecules for storage and use.
