Learning Intentions

• We will learn how to create a calibration curve using a number of dilution of a stock solution, determining the transmittance for each dilution and graphing the data to find a relationship between the two.

• We will learn how to interpret the results of an experiment regarding the absorption and transmittance of light to determine the concentration of an absorbing species in a solution.

• We will learn how to determine mass of a substance from concentration.

Closing Task

You can determine the mass of blue dye in a Gatorade drink.
