Journal Entry:
What safety precautions should you consider today? How do you properly clean up after this lab?
Learning Intentions
You will understand precipitation reactions, learn how to write net ionic equations for such reactions and be able to identify the spectator ions in the reaction.
You will learn to write a balanced net ionic equation for a chemical reaction they observe.
You will learn how to test your predictions and explain any discrepancies between predictions and actual results.
Closing Task:
You can collect data for combinations of solutions, compare them to your predictions and explain any discrepancies.
Content Standards being covered:
LO 2.8 The student can draw and/or interpret representation of solutions that show the interactions between the solute and solvent.
LO 6.21 The student can predict the solubility of a salt, or rank the solubility of salts, given the relevant Ksp values.
LO 6.22 The student can interpret data regarding solubility of salts to determine or rank, the relevant Ksp values.
