• We will learn how functional groups relate to certain smell categories.

• We will learn the naming patterns found among molecules associated with specific functional groups.

• We will learn the various ways to represent molecular compounds, molecular formula, structural formula and Lewis dot structure.

Closing Task:

You can deduce the probable smell of a compound from its name or structural formula based on functional groups.

You can create a concept map of smells and representations of molecular compounds
