  •             Purpose Question (choose one):

  •                     What is the effect of the location on the onion root tip on the amount of cells in mitosis? (use prepared slides and microscope)

  •                     What is the effect of the chemical put on an onion root tip on the amount of cells in mitosis? (use Biology Simulation)

  •             Make a Hypothesis and Null Hypothesis

  •             Write procedure from linked lab modified for what we did

  •             Observe and draw fish blastula and onion root tip  cells and identify the phases each cell is in (make sure you can determine the difference between Interphase and Mitosis)

  •             Copy data table

  •             Start counting how many cells are in interphase and how many are in mitosis for at least one location and record in data table

  •     Wrap Up/Launch

HW: Finish your drawings of fish and onion root tip cells for part 2 and write hypothesis, null hypothesis and procedure in lab notebook.

MU: Come in before or after school to draw a cell from fish blastula and onion root tip, get purpose questions from someone in class and write hypothesis and null hypothesis and then copy down data table from part 2 in linked handout above.

HW: Finish Part 2 of Lab and explore Cell Division Gizmo as explained above if you did not in class.

MU:  Come in before or after school to get help calculating chi square for collected data and design new experiment for Part 2 of Cell Cycle Lab. Log into in Gizmo class using appropriate period directions linked above, launch the Cell Division Gizmo and explore, then assessment at bottom of Gizmo, come in and ask questions about Part 2 of Cell Cycle lab.
